In this era of deep changes at all levels, economic, cultural, social, there are realities that reached their epilogue because they were surpassed by history, and others that, born from a visionary conception of the future, are now taking their first steps, and in shorter times than we imagine, will contribute to changing entire parts of our existence.
One of them is the art initiative that was recently carried out at the MACO, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Oaxaca, thanks to the efforts of Marco Turra Faoro, an Italian artist, based for several years in that ancient city of Mexico.
“ECCAM Plan Agreements” and “1st Artistic Comonetary Action” (ACA) of the “Turra Theory”
The Reconstruction of Society in the style of Indigenous Peoples – without official institutions and with non-monetary and non-digital exchange system – has begun with the first 7 bricks, with the acceptance of art money of the “ECCAM Plan Agreements”, for a Cultural and Community Evolution in Artistic and Meritocratic form.
At the prestigious MACO Museum of Contemporary Art in Oaxaca, on Thursday March 25 was held the monetary awareness conference: “The agreements of the ECCAM Plan” of the “Turra Theory” and on Friday 26, the practical part with the: “1° Artistic Comonetary Action”(ACA) a small market-workshop, in which, the Pesos had to be exchanged for the equivalent in “Foglie Feltrine con Ch’ulel” in order to be able to buy.
FFC by its initials, are the trilogy of “Turrismo” in stamps/cards with Mayan Energy, which were previously donated to the MACO Museum in support of its workers, unfairly not paid for almost a year, by its creator the eclectic Marco Turra, organizer of the two events in memory of his mother, Beppina Faoro, who recently passed away.
Both events occurred in person, in the only museum open to the public in the city of Oaxaca, and not online, as was wrongly stated in the CORTV news, the Oaxaca State TV. Here’s the video note:
Money and currency
Theory and practice to reflect on the little-known difference between money and currency, and to show that the magic “exchange value” is not possible just with bank notes/numbers.
A community or a group – without the need of an official institution, but subject to a previous agreement – can agree on what to exchange for the functions of money, which are:
- 1. common unit of value
- 2. barter facilitator
- 3. means of remuneration
- 4. way of paying taxes
- 5. store of value.
In the proposal of Art Money of the “ECCAM Plan Agreements” together with 1-5-10-20 “Túmin”, the mexican community fiduciary money that has already been operating for more than 10 years, with an exchange value of 1-5-10-20 pesos, there are the 2-3-7 “Foglie Feltrine con Ch’ulel” (Feltrine Leaves with Spirituality) with an exchange value of 50-75-175 pesos and the small engraving of “50 ECCAM Plan” by the master Antun Kojtom, a Mayan artist from Chiapas, with an exchange value of 500 pesos.
The “Artistic Comonetary Action” (ACA) is planned to:
- Make easier fundraising for MACO workers, since it’s like an exchange of currencies, from Pesos to Art Money in FFC, the MACO Museum stamps with exchange value is on the way too.
- Offer a very central and dignified space to promote barter, which is non-monetary exchange
- Strengthen the reconstruction of Society, in the style of the Native Peoples.
A society based on the noble real values and not on the speculative, usurer and dishonest exchange value of the private “national” currency of the international banking and monetary system.
